random notes from june

June's almost over and I'm still without my computer but I did throughout the month jot down a few bob notes... Here they are.

He thinks every hair he finds is a dog hair.  When he gets a hair in his mouth he says, "Bobby eat dog hay-ah."

This morning when bobby woke up the first intelligible thing he said was "mama cool bra."  (it was on the floor near his pack n play.)  then he starts saying "whey-ah mama doe? whey-ah mama doe?"  (where'd mama go?) because apparently he didn't notice i was in the bed five feet away.  i brought him to my bed to snuggle and we tickled and such, and then suddenly he climbed down and went over and got my bra and carried it over and said, "mommy put bra on."  so i did.  then as we're coming down the stairs he pats my boob and says satisfied "mommy bra on."  gosh, he's weird.

he's a little obsessed with the computer.  he rarely lets me sit here without wanting to get on my lap and "mooooah" (move the mouse/bash the keyboard).  i love how he pronounces computer: "puh-poo-ah."

his new favorite show is Super Why on pbs.  he's watching it right now.  once in a while he actually calls out and responds when they ask him to.  just now when they said, "and what's your name?" he shouted "bobby!" with a huge grin on his face.  "Super readers to the rescue!"  It's so ridiculous but he loves it.

bobby is the sweetest boy ever.  he loves everything cute.  "so cute!" he'll exclaim.  he loves puppies and kittens, butterflies and flowers, and babies, and my little ponies.  i'm making him sound like a girlie boy.  he's not.  he loves mud and bugs and every sport he has ever encountered and watching trucks drive by.  and he's also just a total sweetheart who dives down to kiss my foot if I say, "ow, I stubbed my toe."

he's a little smarty pants, too.  he's jib-jabbering away constantly.  observing or imagining or begging or repeating.  i really need to use the video camera more often because i know this adorable tiny voice and funny dialect won't last for long.

i'll be back with pics (and maybe even a movie) one day soon i hope.

nite-nite.

farm pics and father's day

Along with the batch from my last post I uploaded some photos from one random day on the farm...

I, for one, love dandelions.  I don't know why anyone would want to weed them out.

Bobby loves them, too.

But he also loves rocks.

He kinda loves everything.

Including taking pictures with my camera lately.  When I let him he takes about twenty photos in a row of almost the exact same thing.  Here are a couple of his artistic shots.

wearing his "pilgrim girl hat"

And here's my love, known to Bob as "dada" or "daddy" or occasionally "Ben,"  as in "hey, ben!" which bob loves to mimic when i say.  yeah i don't think that sentence came out right but i'm too lazy/tired to read back.  but i'm not too lazy/tired to add this: ben is my favorite and i couldn't be more thankful that he's the father of my child(ren).  Happy Father's Day, Benjamin!

And Happy Father's Day also to the fathers that made my life possible -- my dad, my Gramps, and my Grampa Sonny.  Love you all!

trying to get back into the swing of things

I'm a tiny bit super mad at you all. Only one single person helped me out with my photo dilemma -- and, Linds, you weren't even all that helpful because you named almost every single picture! Do the rest of you even know how to post a comment? See the little link that says something like "view/post comments" at the bottom of every post? Click there. And then tell me which photos will get me the win. And then I will forgive you. Probably.

Anyway.

I haven't been blogging lately because I am homeless. Well, not quite... what am I? A nomad? While we were in the Berkshires taking care of Gram, unable to go home to NY because of a bronchitis epidemic there, Ben got a job offer here that was too good to refuse, and so suddenly we live here. Except we haven't an apartment yet (actually we have found one, but we can't move in yet), so we live in Gram's attic, while all of our stuff lives two hours away. And amongst those darned material possessions are my iMac and my Silver Bullet (the hard drive that stores my Aperture library) and thus my photo flow is severely disrupted. And my blogging is normally inspired by my photos, and hence I feel majorly uninspired and hence I haven't bothered.

But since I don't want to give up, and since I don't want months to go by before I come back, and since Ben's exhausted and asleep after a long week of work, here I am. Just typing. And saying I'm mad at you, which I'm not.

I did upload one set of pics from some random time period a couple of weeks or a month ago onto gram's computer ("gram's computer" in the sense that it's at her house, not in the sense that she has ever used it.) Let's see what we've got from our time at gram's...

looking for snails and slugs and all kinds of bugs

giving me a quick kiss on the arm as he passes by

smelling every flower

new swing

gram's kitty cat lily

there are lots of flowers to smell

bob's good at sharing...
... with stuffed animals

eating cookies makes bobby very very content

inside bob likes to be a little menace and mess with gram's oxygen tank

and lounge around

and pretend the garbage can lid is his car seat

and climb this dangerous stool

and ride his tiny motorcycle (usually he wears a helmet)

there are lots of mood swings around here lately

we went to the park down the road and bob had fun...

...but not as much fun as he had playing in the jeep in the parking lot

the mall has a bunch of little rides and fortunately bob couldn't give two craps if i put in three quarters to make the rides actually run.  and last time he found fifty cents.  so that was awesome.

first time having cheerios in milk.  can't remember why two spoons were necessary.

gram doesn't love having her picture taken so she usually closes her eyes.

ben once went down to the donut man and came back with treats.  now every time he leaves bobby says, "daddy get donut?"  the other day he asked where daddy was and i told him "at work" and bob said "eat donut?"

So that's it.  Little random pieces of what's going on in our lives lately.  Summer isn't even officially here yet and I already feel like it's flying by.  But I'm doing my best to bask in all of it -- the sun, the flowers, bobby's cute little voice and face and tiny little body, the opportunity and the joy of devoting myself to my family.  We're happy.
