We returned to the North Shore this weekend for the first time since October. It was so good to be back, see beloved faces, smell the ocean, feel the sand.
Reason for the trip: Susan's 30th! Sunset party at Good Harbor Beach... what!? Perfect. The Burgesses are there.
This was Owen's first trip to the beach, and I'm sorry to say he experienced little of it. This was our first time beaching it with two kids, so I'll give myself a break here. Also it was a much needed reunion with friends, so Owen please forgive me for trying to chat instead of dipping your little feet in the salty foam. Next time you'll get a real introduction to the sea. I promise.
Decided to share the photos slideshow style because there are just too many. Sorry the faces that attended are represented so disproportionately... lots of the time I was busy with babies and I'd say that's a good enough excuse.
Chose the song because Bob and I have been into rocking out to THIS with our toy instruments for the past couple days; plus it's number one on the iTunes charts right now, so -- relevant?
Forgive me and enjoy.
(I think the quality of the video improves after youtube finishes processing, right? Hope so.)

All boy {homemade water sprinkler}
Back in April a neighbor introduced us to the best sprinkler ever, and even better than how awesome the sprinkler works is how close to free it is. All you need is an empty milk jug or soda bottle and a little duct tape and something pointy to poke holes with. Bam -- instant fun!
Bob's game was tossing his basketball (I earned that thing, along with many a free personal pizza at Pizza Hut, for reading lots of books back in elementary school) at the base of the sprinkler, then running in to fetch it and escape from the freezing water as fast as he could. Serious play.
Linking up with the iheartfaces photo challenge this week... He's all boy, this one; that's for sure.

MASS MoCA {the land of photo ops}
My mother in law was around a couple of weeks ago so my mom skipped work and we went up to MASS MoCA; I'd never been.
Here's what I loved about MASS MoCA: the photo ops were endless.
Here's what I didn't love about MASS MoCA: there was absolutely nothing for kids. Everything is strictly "no touching" which is a little unfun with a two year old.
I suppose I don't have the greatest appreciation for or understanding of modern art, but this instrument explosion exhibit was pretty cool.
Bob was killing me because he wasn't the least bit interested in having his photo taken, but MASS MoCA would be an awesome place for portraits.
The Kidspace gallery had an "Under the Sea" exhibition, but art that appeals to children is actually just a greater form of torture: everything looks so fun to touch!
The best part for Bob was our nursing break at the outdoor exhibit "12 picnic tables"...
... which he pretended was a house. Pretty sure it wasn't intended for climbing, but... too bad. How getting about some climbable art?
Here's how Owen experienced the majority of the day...
That's me. Just a cool lady taking two babies and two grandmas to the art museum.
It was worth the trip because my mom's sweet boss gave us free passes, but I don't know that we'll be going back anytime soon.
{I'd love to head back for a portrait session, though. Interested? Email me here.}
