Bobby's 9 month physical

Bobby had his 9 month doctor's well visit yesterday.  He was a doll, as usual.  A little boy in the waiting room introduced himself to Bob: "Hi, baby, I'm Jack. That's J-A-C-K."

Bobby is a savage when it comes to paper.  I set him on the exam table and within seconds the paper that covers it is ripped to shreds.

The appointment went swell; everything looked good, everyone there loved him.  His height and weight haven't changed too much since his last visit, but the doctor wasn't concerned.  Also I'm pretty sure their height measurements are subject to a certain fallibility due to the baby's wriggling + the nurse's lack of caring exactly how tall he is.

The doctor also said Bobby could start eating some of what we eat at meals.  It seems that Bob heard her, because today he refused to eat his usual food.  He screamed.  He choked on his food and cried and for the most part refused to eat.  All he wanted was Cheerios, since that's one of the few things he's fed himself up until now.  He decided very suddenly that he wanted real people food, and he wasn't going to settle for anything pureed.  Here he is tonight at dinner during baby-food time.  I even gave him one of his favorites, acorn squash, because lunchtime was such a failure.  But he wanted no part in it.

And so, Bobby had his first real big person meal, same as we had: pizza from Little Italy with eggplant, roasted red peppers, green peppers, onions, and feta.  Mmmm.  He seemed to love it as much as we did.
And the poor boy's mood perked right up.

He was so proud of himself.

He loved every bit of it -- the veggies, the sauce, the crust.  He was quite exhausted by the end I think, so he let me feed him his pears for dessert.  Here he is admiring his sloppy midge fingers after a job well done.

(By the way, I love his wrist crease tan line in the picture above.  And also, I licked those pears right off his hand because both the hand and the pears are just so yummy.)

My boy is growing up, little by little, day by day.

  1. Great post and pictures - as always! Isn't it funny what we do as mothers...I'm always licking food off of Camden or picking crumbs off his face and eating them!'s really quite disgusting now that I think about it! Oh well...what we do for our kids!
